Simply spectacular food with one of the most amazing views out there. How they accomplish what they do at this remote location must involve magic. Amazing!

Best spot on the mountains. Beautiful views and restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Lively and fun crowd and vibe. Fantastic food. Might be the best spot on a mountain period.
Be the first to ReplyDisapointed by thier dismissal because we had no reservation.
We were disappointed when the greater dismissed us because we had no reservations. When I checked online, I learned that I needed to make reservations long before I left the States for my vacation. Since we seldom know where we will be on the mountain at lunch time, we can't commit to finding this restaurant on such a big mountain. I did peak inside and found it smaller and more worn than I expected for such a snooty place. I can only guess that the food and service must be the best on the mountain. We skied to the nearby Paradise Restaurant and had the best Bouillabaisse and champaign with an apple strudel. The Paradise is where you want to go. They apologized for not having a table, since we had no reservation, but said wait. Then within five minutes they seated us. And the view from the deck is amazing. Richard

Met all of our expectations. The burger is worth the hype. The experience of skiing to it is quintessential Zermatt. Great service.
Be the first to ReplyThe perfect place for lunch in the slopes
The perfect place for lunch on the slopes. You better book a table well in advance as it is busy. Food is really delicious and the atmosphere and view on the veranda is great.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic service, food and view
Really great place with some great service and food. The view is just scenarios, just over the Matterhorn. The service is kind and quick. If you come by foot during the winter, have a right equipment with you. You can come back by the chair lift. Definitely worth visit

We had the pleasure of Chez Vrony on our ski trip last year. The establishment definitely deserves and lives up to its reputation for excellent food and priceless views of the Matterhorn and surrounding mountains. Recommendations 1. Reserve a spot as soon you have confirmed a trip to Zermatt 2. Make the reservation for the 2nd day on the slopes or even later so you have a chance to scout how to ski to the restaurant. If you overshoot there’s no easy way back and you may lose your precious time slot 3. Sit out if possible and obviously weather-permitting 4. If you can hold out, hunger-wise, go for the 2nd slot of 2pm-4pm and end your ski day with a pre-“aprés-ski” on-mountain before taking your last run down into town for the true aprés-ski We booked the first seating for our on-mountain dining. The snowfall thus far that winter had been poor, even for a typically snow-sure region like Zermatt. The south-facing mountainside of Findeln was bereft of snow and at a certain point the slopes from the Sunnegga lift were mere strips of snow lacing isolated buildings together amid a field of yellow-brown, dried grass. We had made sure we knew where to The weather was spring-like allowing us to enjoy dining outside. Unsurprisingly it was busy and we were fortunate to be able to sit at the front edge of the large patio giving us an unobstructed view of the mountains and especially the Matterhorn. Larger groups would want to sit at one of the tables. Once we had the attention of the staff the service was fairly prompt. We had beef tartare; the cattle were raised in the region. In fact Chez Vrony prides itself on using locally-sourced ingredients as much as possible to serve traditional Swiss dishes as well as more international fare. We then had a Swiss classic, Rösti, with bratwurst. In a nod to nearby Italy we also enjoyed their gnocchi. The first seating lasted almost 2 hours and we used most of the time. It was a treat to savor not only the food but the awesome alpine vista before us.

We were recommended this place, booked a reservation timely but couldn’t attend, nevertheless we bumped into it while skiing down from Rothorn and managed to be seated. Wow! What an experience, a total delight, views, drinks and food shouldn’t be missed, they have vegeterian, vegan and gluten free options as well.

Chez Vrony lived up to the hype! When planning my trip to Zermatt, I kept reading about the absolute MUST après ski restaurant - Chez Vrony. As beginner skiers, I was not sure we would have the skiing ability to get to and from the restaurant, but our instructor assured us that after a day or two of lessons, we would be able to make it there. I made a reservation a few weeks in advance for the 2 pm seating and planned to celebrate the end of our ski trip with lunch at Chez Vrony. Fortunately, we all were able to ski to the restaurant. It is located on a fairly easy Blue run (Findeln), but we did see some people hiking through the snow, rather than skiing, to reach the restaurant. We were seated on the balcony and had an amazing view of the Matterhorn. I cannot imagine a more beautiful après ski location. The food was equally impressive. I had the Vrony Burger (ordered the smaller version), husband had the gnochi, and kids enjoyed the traditional cheese fondue (ordered fondue for 1 person and it was plenty for two to share). Delicious cocktails and espresso. All around one of my most lovely dining experiences of my life.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible! Most memorable lunch of our life
The atmosphere, wow! All reservations are on the deck and the views are just stunning. The fun din of German, French, Italian and other voices having fun was great. The food was awesome. TIP: Reservations.. fortunately for us they only take day of reservations otherwise we would never have had this experience. Call them the morning of at 8:30AM sharp. :)
Be the first to ReplyThe charm is over
Third time to Chez Vrony, it remains good. We had the salad bowl for two - great except for the amount of dressing (too much). I had the pasta bucatini, super delicious sauce but very sloppy presentation. It was just thrown onto the plate and the mushrooms in top were like three. Ky husband had better luck with a veal dish, nicely presented and tasty. The red wine was also good. Pity that they charge 9,- for water (and this is water in their own bottles, so I think it’s out of the tap). All the restaurants on the mountain should be ashamed at the exorbitant prices charged for water! Anyway we like our lunch, but after this third time the charm is over for us.
Be the first to ReplyBest lunch on the mountain
This place is where to be for a fancy lunch on the mountain! Delicious food, good service, incredible views, nice vibes & decor. We made a reservation for a big group and they were able to seat us early. Accessible by ski or by foot (you'll need to take transport up the mountain first though). Overall, highly recommend if you have the budget!! Some noteworthy details: the menus come in metal boxes, and there are nice sheep-skin blankets and dried flower decor. The inside of the chalet feels charming and cozy.

The best view from a restaurant in the Alps, tasty upper mid range food & great service. An art lovers paradise too with interesting new works on display. A must if you visit Zermatt.
Be the first to ReplyLives up to the hype
This restaurant lives up to the hype it creates - the food is great, the view of the Matterhorn is incredible. Book a month in advance to ensure you get a spot. I really loved the gnocci, raviolli and vrony burger!
Be the first to ReplyJust wow…
Wow wow wow, all I am going to say that it is a must! We had the most amazing time with the most incredible walk to the restaurant and the views.
Be the first to ReplySuperb dining experience
Wonderful staff. I was so glad the host ushered us in despite arriving earlier than our slated time. Our server was helpful and attentive.
Great tasting meal. The dishes tasted so good and were pleasing to the eyes! The lamb was superb; it was savory and subtly gamey.
An awesome view of the Matterhorn was the icing on the cake.
Definitely worth the trip. Highly recommended!
Perfect food, location and service
Perfect view of the Matterhorn, location, food and service.
We came twice during our week in Zermatt and both time were fantastic.
This is one of our favorite place for lunch.
We booked early as it is always fully booked.
fabulous views, great food, friendly service
We experienced Chez Vrony for a birthday lunch for a large group. We were split over several tables and looked after beautifully. The food (in my case a burger and a type of meringue Eton Mess for dessert) was excellent. The views over the Matterhorn are stunning and it's a real sun trap. It was a stunning day so we were sitting outside but the inside also looks very charming and cosy. Lunch at Chez Vrony was the highlight of our day. It's super popular and busy so bookings are essential.
Be the first to ReplyA Zermatt dining institution
When I first visited in 1990 this was a small rustic restaurant in Findeln, serving local dishes. When we visited again last week it had clearly become an institution, still actively run by Vrony herself, who had actually been our waitress back in 1990! Today it has a massive outside sun terrace, on which to while away your allotted 2 hours, wining and dining to a very high standard, paying prices in line with the Findeln gourmet restaurant community. Service is professional, attentive and friendly and the food excellent.
Be the first to ReplyA beautiful and romantic place
Chez Vrony, is the chalet that offers you round trip through the family history, a well-kept chalet, tasteful decorated. Mentioned in Gault Millau and Michelin with a special love to detail starts and the tables, the presentation of the menu, and the good and balanced choice of national and international dishes, well trained employees added with the good, tasteful dishes rounded the experience, of this unique place to visit.
Be the first to ReplyLunch break on the way to Sunnegga
We were hiking from Zermatt to Sunnegga and we’re starving for lunch. This restaurant was very busy and glad that they were had an open table inside. The food was good; however, the dishes are very expensive.
Be the first to ReplyWorth the reservation!
This is worth the trouble of a reservation… pro tip: you can call at 8:30 am the day of for a reservation. Food and service are superb! Such a special experience!

We visited with a very last minute booking and a table was kindly made up for us on the terrace (thank you). We enjoyed great wine, food, service and a fantastic vibe. Definitely among the best.
